What is Parish Council?

The Parish Council of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church is a dedicated group of parishioners who serve the Church through leadership, stewardship, and prayerful collaboration with our priest. Together, they help oversee parish operations, support our ministries, and work to fulfill the mission of the Orthodox Christian Church.

Who Can Serve?

To be eligible for election to the Parish Council, a candidate must:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have been a parishioner in good standing for at least one year prior to the election

  • Live in accordance with the faith, teachings, and canons of the Orthodox Church

  • Be determined by the priest to be in both canonical and financial good standing, as outlined in the Uniform Parish Regulations

  • Be actively engaged in the life of the parish, including consistent participation in Sunday Divine Liturgy and the sacramental life of the Church

  • Demonstrate a commitment to carrying out the mission of the Church and the well-being of the entire parish—not representing personal interests or specific committees

  • Be willing and available to attend regular monthly meetings, typically held on the third Tuesday of each month, and to take an active role in the work and responsibilities of the Council

Serving on the Parish Council is both a responsibility and a blessing. Members are called to model Orthodox Christian living, foster unity, and support the growth of our parish in faith, love, and service.

If you feel called to serve or would like to learn more, please contact the church office for more information.
